adding users to my laptop

Asked by Martin G

Hello:
I'm new to Ubuntu. This is my second dumb question
How do I add users to my PC if the "add users" button is grayed out?
I'm th only user and I think I am supposed to have administrative rights.
Thanks

You should see at the base of the window something that says "Unlock" ot with a similar meaning. It means you need to unlock the program to be able to add user. Just click on the "keys" icon or the button next to Unlock phrase and enter your own password, then it will unlock the programm adduser and you'll be able to add users to your system.

This is because only the super user can administrate the compouter and you can do administrative tasks with the command "sudo" befoer any administrative commands (in command line mode, in graphics mode it's something like clicking on "unlock" or whatsoever).
