Hard drive failing hard disk has many bad sectors

I have the ubuntu cd and even reinstalled the whole thing, still hasn't solved, is there anyway to fix without replacing the hard drive?

no, bad sectors are physical faults. replace the drive ASAP

Sammy -- first the report may be inaccurate. If there is a tool from the disk manufacturer I would use that to see if it is reporting the same. I had a warning on a 1TB drive -- and the drive reports fine with the manufacturers tools. What you are talking about is a low level format -- and if you can it would also be with the manufacturers tools... and I do not think a low level format resets smart data.... though I could be wrong.
