Ubuntu 9.10 install problems

Asked by helpless

I'm trying to install Ubuntu 9.10 from CD. I put the CD in a select 'Install Ubuntu', there is then a whole bunch of white text against a black screen. After that, I come to the logon screen. It asks for a username and password. I haven't set up a username of password though. It never asked for my time zone or anything, it just skipped over the personal information setup part. What do I do?

Try downloading the ISO again; early versions of the Ubuntu build had installation problems.

Can you help with this problem?
