impossible to sync the second computer (jaunty)

Asked by Jacobo Grajales

Hi!

I just added a second computer to my Ubuntuone account. The first one (karmic) works perfectly. Installation on my second machine went correnctly, I added it to my account (it appears connected). However, the Ubuntuone folder on this 2nd computer does not sync. I add new files and folders but I am unable to make it sync. I connected on the preferences window, but I do not see the applet on my notification zone (I've alredy removed it and added it again). Does somebody have some ideas??? Thanks in advance

Jake

If you are on Lucid or running the PPA/Beta version of Ubuntu One you will not see the applet. It has been replaced by the Ubuntu One Preferences Panel. This is accessed through the Me Menu -> Ubuntu One or System -> Preferences -> Ubuntu One.

Hi Jake,

On the Jaunty computer you opened System->Preferences->Ubuntu One and then added your computer to your Ubuntu One account when the web browser prompted you to? If so, you should be able to connect via the "Devices" tab and clicking the "Connect" button in Ubuntu One Preferences.

Thank you,

Joshua

thanks for the answers. I am able to open the preferences window and the devices tab. I clicked on the "connect" button several times, tried rebooting, reconnecting, deconnecting... my ubuntu one folder does not sync with my account. The weirdest thing is that I do not get any mistake message, even if I run ubuntuone-preferences on a terminal. Any ideas???

Jacobo,
If you continue to have issues could you please file a bug report. You can do this by hitting 'Alt + F2' then typing the command:

ubuntu-bug ubuntuone-client

This will attach some relevant information to your bug report. Also you can attach some logs to the report. This will help in determining the root cause of your issue. You can just zip your ~/.cache/ubuntuone/log/ folder and attach the zip to your bug report using the 'Add Attachment or Patch' button near the bottom of the report. ( You might need to issue the command Ctrl + h to see the .cache folder in your home folder)

thank you,
