Version control for files?

Short question.
I read somewhere that you are planing to implement version control of files. (Perhaps the way Dropbox is doing it?)
Could you confirm that this is actually the case, and if so, if you have any idea on when this would happen? (How far down the todo-list?)

I'd like to know about this too. It's currently the only thing keeping me from using Ubuntu One over Dropbox.
