Auto-hide or Fullscreen

Asked by ErM

Considering that this is targeted at the Netbook crowd, I would imagine screen real estate is of the utmost importance. Is there anyway to auto-hide the side and top bar?

I really think it should go to Bug Reporting as feature request.
I really suspect it is planned, but at this early point it is not still implemented.

Seeing different behavior with this update. Not for the better. Before using F11 in Chrome would actually go fullscreen. Now F11 goes full screen, but both the Unity bar and the side bar are covering, like they are "always on top".

Well, I gotcha covered for the side bar. Click on the on/off button in the top right corner of your screen. Choose "System Settings". Choose "CompizConfigSettings Manager". Choose "Ubuntu Unity Plugin". To the right of "Hide Launcher", choose "Autohide". Now, if someone could please answer how to hide the Top bar!! I'm on a Plasma HDTV (please save your opinions about that, I couldn't care less about what screen you think I should use). I am not willing to burn my screen with the Top bar. For years I've been using the program called Wally to automatically rotate my wallpapers and I've always auto-hidden all panels. If 11.04 winds up being unable to do this, I'd rather downgrade back to 10.10.

The top bar in unity is occupying space as well as it is annoying while switching to other applications. I like beauty of this unity but the top bar being stable is somewhat problematic. If it was provided with auto hide facility then it will lead the old classical ubuntu menu.

Can you help with this problem?
