Home lens

Asked by Zies McDoom

I realy dislike the new home lens . I would prefer it to open straight to the aplications . Can i remove the home lens ? or is it possible to get the quick list menu put on the left side of the dash and do away with the Mono coloured lens icons that are not user friendly and do not match any other part of the unity interface ?

You can access the applications directly by right-clicking on the dash button and clicking on the application lens. This is one quick way to access the specific lens of your choice. There is a bug report which if fixed will allow the user to drag the lenses and place them on the launcher for quick access.

As for the mono colored icons, they cannot be changed. But they are mono to match the other elements of the Ubuntu desktop such as the indicator icons etc which are all mono.

Thank you for your reply .
I have intruduced unity to mutiple users and all of them have not located the lens at the bottom of the dash untill they ask how to do something or I indicate that they are there .
The mono colour lens only matchs the Ubuntu mono dark theme , There for as soon as a user alters the icon theme via Myunity they no longer match .
From a Quality Insurance view, Icons or logos without names are not acceptable . This is becouse interpretation can alter from one user to another .
Quick menus are good and I beleave that the quick menu would be better used intergreated onto the dash Eliminating Icon confusion . Both options are the same amount of mouse clicks .

I understand, however this is not the right place for this discussion. If you have a design idea, you should probably start a discussion on the Ayatana mailing list. You can join the group at https://launchpad.net/~unity-design and then subscribe to the mailing list. in this mailing list you can discuss your idea in health way with the other Unity developers and designers.

Can you help with this problem?
