Image file name on wallpaper

Asked by Jay Andrews

Is it possible to overlay the text of the image file name on top of the Variety desktop image? Something similar to the random quotes feature.
Thanks
Jay

Yes, it's possible to edit the .config/variety/scripts/set_wallpaper script to do this - it receives the file name as an argument, and can use an ImageMagick command similar to the clock_filter to draw it on the wallpaper. I'm not sure if there are any examples of this online.

It may also be possible with a custom filter in variety.conf.

Thanks very much for the very informative answer. Unfortunately, I am very new to Variety and it's configuration options. In fact I am relatively new to Linux, so I will have to study the possibilities.

Hi Peter,
it would be great if you can get me an example how to configure .config/variety/scripts/set_wallpaper script in order to show the names of the folder and the name of the picture which is shown currently.

Best Regards
Volker
