I know the visual interface menus are not working, but is there a way to save the project? I don't know, maybe from the terminal

I suppose you are using the latest bzr version.
As temporary workaround you can copy somewhere the saved project by hand then replace the files when needed. The project is saved to ~/.virtualbricks/.virtualbricks.state (it's hidden).
