At the moment, WingPanel doesn't support auto-hide yet. This option may be considerer for Luna+1

Thanks. Hopefully, the feature is implemented and WP can be upgraded before having to wait for the full-blown L+1.

Adding a vote to also allow WingPanel hiding or intelligent hiding (preferred). The Plank dock now hides when a window overlaps the dock area or is maximized. I'm running eOS on a converted Chromebook and I would prefer to have as much usable space available to applications as possible. A tweak setting would be nice. A sub-optimal, but workable solution is to let non-maximized windows overlap the panel area.

I have Freya beta 2 installed, and update daily via the elementary-os-daily PPA (as of 2014-09-02)

+1 to WingPanel auto-hide feature.

When I maximize a screen I don't need to look at to the calendar or any indicator.

I need to focus on my work on maximized window. And Wingpanel occupies some place although I maximize a window.
