Wubi

Wubi installed Ubuntu error on boot

i have a dual boot just installed it, and i select on ubuntu on the boot screen and i get
\ubuntu\winboot/wubildr.mbr
is missing or corrupt
i've been looking around and haven't found an answer please help

it's not advisable to install ubuntu via wubi. is there a reason why you're not doing a dual boot install without wubi?

I haven't seen this message before... what version? Usually the wubildr.mbr is in root c:\ (the one in \ubuntu\winboot is an artifact from the install). Did you do any manual changes to the windows boot manager? (e.g. boot.ini or bcdedit)

Try reinstalling?

PS do not update packages grub-pc and grub-common if the Update-manager prompts you (known to break 10.04 installs)
