Only boots XP after windows 11.04 install

Asked by Dick

Installed 11.04 using the windows install tool for UBUNTU. Everything installed with no errors. Re-booted after installation completed but only boots up XP SP3.

No screen to select which system to boot.

Any Ideas ???

If you used Wubi installer, to install Ubuntu inside Windows partition, please wait bcbc answer.

Right-click on My Computer, Properties, Advanced, Startup & recovery settings. Check that the Timeout is 15 or 30 (if it is zero change it). Also check the drop down list (to choose the default operating system) and make sure an entry for Ubuntu is in there (leave Windows as the default).

If there is no entry for Ubuntu post back.

Don't install grub2 or it will stop windows from booting.

I downloaded another copy of the ISO bootable CD file and installed it. The windows install didn't work so it was a waste of time.
Installed from CD. Very painful - tooks hours!!! But finally made it.

Now having problems with no sound - only been working on it for 1 day so I have a long ways to go.

I like the speed of the system. Mozillla is also fast.

Just no sound.

I will post a problem for sound if I can't resolve it from others problems for the same thing.

Thanks for all your help!!!!!

For sound, check which output hardware is activated in preferences, if you have both output in front and behind computer.

Thanks Delance - I changed the OUTPUT to analog output/no amplifier - tested OK!!  Played an mp3 using VLC and also a video at YOUTUBE.  Banshee didn't work but that is a problem for another.  Again - thanks much.
