After installing ubuntu 11.10 with wubi: no "prefix" on load ubuntu

After installing Ubuntu 11.10 with the Wubi tool when attempting to load Ubuntu at the "Chose an Operating system" display I get the error "no "Prefix" found" This causes Ubuntu to not run. Can it be fixed, and how?

The message is actually 'normal' on wubi installs on release 11.04 and 11.10. Maybe it will be removed for 12.04, but it is not indicative of your problem. (It appears every time a wubi install boots)

If you are then ending up at a grub prompt then this is most likely the problem: http://ubuntu-with-wubi.blogspot.com/2011/08/missing-rootdisk.html
