increase size allocated for Ubuntu 11.10 in "run with Win"

Asked by Andrei H

Hi, the summary says quite all... When I installed it (Ubuntu 11.10) I allocated "just" 10 Gb of space, now I'd like to extend that space (I imagine it's not a problem since that space is held in a file in Windows, or smthing like that) to make room for more apps.

If someone knows how please help.

Thanks, keep up the good work!

Thank you for the response. The strange thing is that now my Ubuntu is not booting anymore and I really need a C project from my desktop :'( The events that lead to this are:
1. Normal boot, all working perfectly.
2. Started working on a project for school so first I wanted to update & upgrade, but it told me I can't because I don't have enough free space left...
3. Installed a better dev tool of about 10-15 Mb.
4. Wrote the post here (after searching the forum with no results :|)
5. finished my project BUT I never thought I will not be able to get it from the desktop, so I didn't do a backup on another drive/partition :(
6. Shut down the PC in normal mode, no errors, or long time or anything...
7. Later I try to start my Ubuntu and it hangs on a dark-purple screen, nothing happens ( I've tried the nomodeset - or what was that instead of "quiet something", but it does nothing, it's the same)

Please tell me how can I recover my project, right now this is all I want. I just want a terminal window so I can get that small file, it's strange that you close your OS and then you simply can't start it again...

Sorry for any mistakes I've made, poor english and all, but I really need this fast :(
Thank you!

Use http://ext2read.blogspot.com/ (I've heard it's a big buggy, but it reads the \ubuntu\disks\root.disk file.

Or boot an Ubuntu CD/USB in read only mode, mount your windows partition, and then loop mount the root.disk.
You can also resize the root.disk from a CD/USB using instructions on post #2 of that guide.
