Asked by Christian Serpas

ok so I installed ubuntu 11.10 and as it went through, I restarted my computer and once it turned back on, I highlighted the Ubuntu operating system but then this GRUB verision 1. something and then on then this grub thing with a cursor next to it:
grub> _

I typed everything in it and nothing. I went back into the Windows XP operating system to make a disk but there is no ubuntu ios in my system. I check the disk, checked for enough partition space, defraged the drive, and still nothing. May someone please help me!!!!

If you boot to ubuntu live cd and run:

sudo fdisk -l

i cant make a Ubuntu disk, there is no ios file on my computer. What I did was to go on ubuntu.com downloaded the 32-bit 11.10 Ubuntu program and saved it on my desktop. Then this wubi.exe icon appeared on my desktop and so I doubled-clicked on it and it asked me for a login password installation size etc etc, I did that and in the end it said it was completely successful but then i didnt find any ios file and it wanted me to reboot. So i rebooted my pc, chose the Ubuntu operating system and the grub just came up.

ok this is what it is says:
GNU GRUB version 1.99-12ubuntu5
Minimal BASH-like line editing is supported. For the first word, TAB lists possinle command completions. Anywhere else TAB lists possible device or file completions.

grub> _

You don't want wubi, you need to burn the ISO and create a bootable CD so you can check the partitions.
