downloaded and it won't boot

minimal BASH-like line editing is supported. for the first word ,TAB lists possible command completions anywhere else TAB lists possible device or file completions
grub> what does this mean? why can't I use ubuntu? i'm about to just give up. I used wubi if that helps any.

Using wubi makes life a littl more taxing. There is a user on here who is great with wubi.

Hi, please can you clarify... did you have Ubuntu installed and working and then something happened, so that now every time you boot you just get a grub> prompt.

Or, did you get the grub> prompt the very first time you attempted to boot.

That link shows how to recover a root.disk (the virtual disk wubi uses) if there is NTFS corruption - which may be caused by a hard shutdown. But this only applies to users who had Ubuntu running.
